Why Does EmailControl Exist?

EmailControl exists because email fails silently. When a website goes down, everyone notices within minutes — monitoring tools scream, customers complain, dashboards turn red. When a domain lands on a spam blacklist, nothing visible happens at all. Mail keeps leaving your outbox normally. It just stops arriving. Quotes go unanswered, invoices go "missing," and follow-ups get no reply, and most business owners burn weeks blaming their sales process before anyone thinks to check a blacklist.

That exact scenario is why this product was built. Our founder runs a portfolio of businesses — every one of them dependent on email that actually reaches the inbox. After one domain quietly landed on a blacklist through a shared hosting IP and the listing went undiscovered for almost a month, the lesson was obvious: sender reputation needs the same always-on monitoring that uptime gets. Nothing on the market did that job simply, affordably, and without demanding access to the mail server itself. So we built it, pointed it at our own domains first, and EmailControl has been watching them ever since. Every feature in the product started as something we needed ourselves.

What Does EmailControl Do?

EmailControl continuously checks three things about every domain you add. First, blacklist status: we resolve your mail server's IP address and query it against major DNS blacklists — Spamhaus ZEN, Barracuda, SORBS, and SpamCop — the same lists receiving mail servers consult before accepting your message. Second, authentication records: we verify your SPF record is present and sane, probe common DKIM selectors, and parse your DMARC policy. Third, trend: every result is stored, scored into a 0–100 health number, and charted so you can see reputation drift before it becomes a crisis. The moment any check changes for the worse, you get an email alert with a plain-language explanation of what broke and exactly how to fix it.

What Does EmailControl Deliberately Not Do?

We think the boundaries matter as much as the features. EmailControl does not send email through your domain, ever — we never connect to your mail server and never ask for its credentials. We do not modify DNS records automatically — automatic fixes would require your registrar login, and no monitoring vendor should hold that. We are advisory by design: we detect, we explain, we hand you the exact record to publish, and you stay in control of your own infrastructure. We also don't resell or share your data; the list of domains you monitor is business intelligence, and it stays yours.

Who Is EmailControl For?

Small business owners who run their own mail and can't afford an enterprise deliverability suite. Agencies and consultants responsible for client domains, who need hourly checks, a year of history, and an API to feed their own reporting. Solo entrepreneurs with a growing portfolio of projects, where one compromised WordPress install can poison the reputation of every domain on the same server. How Is EmailControl Built?

Deliberately boring and fast: a lean PHP application backed by MariaDB, doing real DNS work with no heavyweight frameworks and no third-party data brokers in the loop. Checks run on schedule via cron, results are stored forever within your plan's history window, and alert emails go out within fifteen minutes of a detected change. We use the service on our own domain portfolio daily — when something breaks, we feel it before you do.
